I love cake… anyone that knows me knows I can’t say no to a good slice of cake. So when I get the chance to talk about cake I can’t help myself!
You might have seen our recent Facebook post on the amazing succulent cake by Ivenoven, so today I am going to talk about unique wedding cakes and how they can really inject a sense of personality into your big day!
1. The naked cake
Not a fan of fondant and all that decoration that tends to go with it, naked cakes revel the simplicity of a cake. With limited decorations, bar some well placed fruit or flowers, naked cakes provide a perfect opportunity for the cake sponge itself to be the showcase.
I love a naked cake as it allows bakers to truly show off their skills, however make sure your baker is up for the task before committing to such a bold cake statement!
2. Donut cake tower
Not really a fan of wedding cakes? Opt for a wedding cake made of a tower of donuts. This fun and (much cheaper) option then a traditional cake is bound to appeal to everyone, as who can say no to a donut!?
3. A cake made of cheese
Not a fan of cakes or donuts? Then maybe a wedding cake made of huge rounds of cheese could be your thing.
For those without a sweet tooth, this option provides the perfect choice. Serve with platters of crackers and chutneys and you have the perfect after dinner treat!
Each ‘layer’ of cheese can be different providing a perfect opportunity to cater to all guests’ cheese likes and dislikes.
4. His and her dual cake
Can you and your soon to be husband just not agree on a wedding cake?! Then maybe this cake is for you. Featuring half a traditionally styled wedding cake and half a themed wedding cake. This cake allows both parties to reflect their personality, as well as adding some fun to the proceedings. It can also serve to remind guests of something you both share a love of as a couple!
Whatever cake you choose as a couple, just remember to try and eat a slice. Most of my wedding couples admit they never even ate a bite of their wedding cake. Make sure to ask your planner or family member to put a slice aside for you, so the day after your wedding you and your husband can enjoy that slice together and reminisce about the best day of your lives!
Like what you see? Share it with others!
That cheese cake! I know a lot of people who would love that!
Being gluten free, I personally love the idea of the cheese cake 🙂 – Petra
