Seating – the top thing people forget at a wedding

It is often the most simple things that couples overlook during the wedding planning process. And guess what, these are the ones that make the most difference to the guests’ overall experience.

You might think you have covered every little (and big) detail. The photobooth has some awesome props to keep people entertained, the cake looks and tastes great, and the table arrangements are spectacular. However, we hate it say it, but what people will remember the most, if not done right, is how much their feet hurt because there weren’t enough places to sit.

Yes you heard right… not enough seating. This is one of the elements, as an event planner, I always make sure couples don’t forget.

Everyone sat down comfortably for the wedding ceremony, and will again at the dinner, but what about the time in-between. The time when the wedding party goes off for photos and the guests are left to enjoy the cocktails and canapés. This is the time when having enough casual seating is especially important!

You’ve been a guest before so you know how it goes. You’re dressed in your well thought out wedding outfit which includes a pair of shoes which were an impulse and extremely impractical purchase. After awhile all you want to do is to collapse onto an artfully placed sofa or elegant wooden piece of furniture.

But don’t worry, this seating doesn’t have to break the budget. Depending on your theme consider using hay bales, a selection of colourful picnic blankets or beanbags. Use a selection of different seating options and sizes. Whatever you choose, make sure that every guest can sit down if they want to.

It may seem like such a small element, but never under estimate the power of enough seating!
